Bhimthang Trek is a short trek into the Manaslu region of Nepal, popular for its stunning natural scenery and rich cultural heritage. The trek takes you to the final stage of Lalkya La pass at an altitude of 5,160 meters, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and ice formations to the north and three glaciers to the south. Bhimthang, which means "Sand Plain" in Tibetan, is a summer settlement and is home to the beautiful Pongkhel (3965 meters) and Nayamro (4089 meters) lakes.

Bhimthang trekking is a fascinating journey where you can enjoy natural beauty, have a cultural experience and witness the splendor of the Himalayas, making it a top destination for both adventurers and nature lovers. The journey begins from a charming village near the Bhimthang region where you can observe the local culture and lifestyle. Along the route, the trail gradually climbs passing through lush forests, terraced fields and scenic hamlets. As you progress further on the trek, the spectacular Himalayan panorama begins to unfold, with the snow-capped peak of Mount Manalus dominating the horizon. One of the key highlights of the trek is interacting with the local communities such as the Gurung tribe along the trekking route. Other highlights include visiting Ponkar Lake (3965 meters) and Nayamro Lake (4089 meters) near the Bhimthang village (3590 meters). The trek takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes with a chartered helicopter flight from Bhimthang to Kathmandu, offering an aerial view of the beautiful Manaslu region and the magnificent mountain panorama. Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu. Free time to explore on your own. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Dharapani (1963m) via Besisahar. Overnight at lodge. (7-8 hrs drive)

Day 3: Trek from Dharapani to Tiliye (2300m/4hrs) Overnight at lodge.

Day 4: Trek from Tirie to Bhimthang (3590m/6hrs) Overnight at lodge

Day 5: Bhimthang - Excursion to Pongkar Lake (3,965m) and Nayamro Lake (4,089m) and trek to High Camp. Overnight at lodge (3-5 hrs).

Day 6: Bhimthang - Hike to Lalkhiya Pass (5160m) and return to Bhimthang. Overnight at lodge (8-9 hrs)

Day 7: Charter helicopter flight from Bhimthang to Kathmandu (1400m) and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 8: After breakfast, free time before departing to the airport for your flight home.

The permits required for this trek are an ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) entry permit and a TIMS (Trekking Information Management System) card.

What is the transportation to the trekking 
starting point? You can drive to the trekking starting point using a spare jeep or local transport.

Is there a helicopter option?
Yes, it is possible to take a helicopter to Manaslu or you can take a helicopter back to Kathmandu after the trek and shorten your trekking days.
